Tenrec is a small and nimble technology company in Portland, OR that has been serving professional service providers for 20 years. Though they were providing excellent support their website was left untouched for about 8 years.
I worked with Tenrec to help connect the conceptual dots. They already had many elements in place that told the story of ecological evolution and I helped them connect that story to the technological evolution they offer to their clients.
My contribution: Conceptualization, UI/UX Design, Logo Design, Brand Refresh.
Below you will find the Service Plans page of tenrec.com. I love this page design! It is simple and useable and it showcases the plan badges designed by yours truly. This page utilizes Bootstrap collapse to reveal each plan's detail info with a simple click of "Learn More."
Are you a creative person looking to collaborate with other creatives in your area? Collab is just what you are looking for. You can create a profile, upload your work, find collaborators, and even find work.
Very much inspired by Tinder's UI, Collab allows users to swiftly browse creatives near them, where ever they may be. Intuitive swiping, tapping, and double tapping gestures create an engrossing user experience.
My contribution: Conceptualization, UI/UX Design, Logo Design, and prototype construction. This project was built with Sketch and made interactive with InVision in 12 hours.
How often do you consider your own assumptions, biases, or subconscious preferences? We all have them and it is my belief that if we better understood them, we can live more balanced, more manageable, hell, even more enriched lives.
The core concept of this piece is this: When the blinds are closed, the viewer is closed. The blinds provide privacy and protection for a discreet, yet narrow view of the outside world. If you are peeking through closed blinds you are taking the role of the paranoid observer: Fearful of being seen and selecting a narrow set of experiences. To illustrate this concept the content visible with the blinds closed mirrors the sentiment of the viewer. Unsettling, chaotic, or even violent content is visible.
Alternatively with the blinds open, the viewer is open. They are vulnerable and open to what comes into view. To drive this home, the open window reveals positive, joyous and awe inspiring imagery and videos of beautiful landscapes, cute animal videos, and people expressing themselves (dancing, singing, bull riding, painting, etc.)
My contribution: Exploring psychological concepts and practicing HTML, CSS, jQuery, and Javascript.
Are you a person with a big heart, but a small wallet? Are you part of a non-profit or charity in need of funding and/or free images?
PicaCause connects penny pinching altruists with charities in need. Here's how it works:
Users who want to contribute to a charity have two options. They can sell their Instagram photos with all proceeds going to a charity of their choice or they can simply allow a charity to use their instagram photo for marketing purposes.
Charities can apply for a profile on picacause.com where they can set fundraising goals and select photos they would like to use.
My contribution: UI/UX Design, Front-end Development (HTML, CSS, jQuery). I designed the interface to be playful and easy to use. Light-hearted colors, chunky proportions and serious functionality.
There are two ways in. Select a charity you would like to contribute by clicking on the "go to charites" slab on the right or click the "go to photos" slab on the left to select photos you'd like to buy.
Browse charity profiles and select the one you want to support!
Each charity's profile displays their mission, contact info, category, fundraising goal, and goal progress bar (an awesome feature of which I take ownership).
Alternatively you can browse Instagram users' contributed photos and select the charity to receive the proceeds.
Once you have made your selection you can add it to your cart. When you check out your selected charity's fundraising goal and progress bar will decrement.
To create a profile page for your charity simply fill out the application form. Also we built a backend admin to accept incoming application requests.
Benefit is a meal tracker app where you can add meals, edit them, and filter by calorie count.
Benefit is the first site I have built with Angular2. I really enjoyed using this framework. I found it easy to navigate the use of this MVC.
My contribution: UI/UX Design, Front-end Development (HTML, CSS, TypeScript) Back-end Development (Node, NPM, Gulp, Bower, Angular2, Handlebars). Benefit is the product of an Epicodus codereview, built in the span of one day.
Add a meal by entering the meal name, description, and calorie count and click "Add"
Your newly added meal appears in the "Your Meals" section on the right. To see its contents click on its name.
Edit your meal by clicking the "Edit" button. With two-way data binding, what you enter in the fields on the right appears automatically on the left.
Finally, you can filter your meals displayed by high or low calories.
